installing older v-8 what is needed
I have an 88 firebird with a 305 tbi and a 5 speed.What do I need to change when installing an older 350(pre 87) as far as motor mounts, flywheel ect.?
Will the serpentine acc brackets fit on the older block? I thinking of using vortec heads if it makes a difference. Any help is appreciated!

Do you have any idea what block you will be using?
If you are using Vortec heads, you won't have any issues with the serpentine system.
As long as the block is 1958-later, no problem with engine mounts.
If '86-earlier, you will need a two-piece rear main seal flexplate/flywheel. One for the '83-'85 f-body V8 application will be fine.
'79-earlier blocks had the dipstick on the drivers side, and if you try to use stock exhaust manifolds, they get in each others way. If you use headers, no problem.
Check to make sure your block has the same starter mount holes your current block has.

I dont get any leaks through the tube's base, it actually seals the same, i can just rotate it and pull it out with ease. Just gotta make sure not to pull it out when chekcing oil.
five7kid covered the rest, as for wiring, its pretty simple. You will just have alot of left over connectors when youre done, and you will have to make sure you use the correct fuel pump.

Does anyone know how much HP the stock TBI in tank fuel pump will support.
I know it has lower pressure (13 or14 psi) the the TPI pump but I'm not sure how much it flows. I'm thinking 400-500 HP. Any suggestions (mech. or elec.) preferences and regulators.

One thing I couldn't find in a search:
I'm looking at using an older 350 block, and was wondering if there is even a location for the knock sensor to go into on it. I'm doing the 305-350 tbi swap and read the awesome sticky on it, and the only issue i'm running into before block shopping is whether or not I can use an older block (I can get an older one cheap)
