Help me build a killer motor!
I don't know much about motor spec or even if parts will bolt up.
I only want say 600hp flywheel power.
So here is what I was looking at.
Motown SBC 406 or 427
AFR 210cc Eliminator heads street or Comp
Around a .600 lift solid roller something like 280/292 at .050
Intake I would like to run a Supper Ram or a Holley Sr. to keep the TPI
VERY IMPORTANT I know the solid roller and the.600 is alot so I have no problem down sizing to a lower power and throw on a Nitrous kit (already have 3 kits). And I am on a 10k budet for a long block.
Thanks

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
im not to sure if they have 427 small blocks lol.
im doing a build for my 383. why dont you just make a 350 with some good parts and put a supercharger on there. should make aloud of power. or maybe even a turbo??? shouldnt cost you $10000 to make a 600hp engine.

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
Sure they do...LS7 is a 427 small block...they even make a 454 crate motor thats a small block, iron head will cost something like $9.995 and make 575hp and you can get an aluminum head version that will make 600hp for like $500 more! http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...ine/index.html

No offense intended, but I don't think you're ready for 600 HP. Have you ever driven a car with 300 HP?
"Killer" may take on a meaning you don't intend.

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
with the new motor,2 bigger turbos, and 2 stages of nitrous car makes twice the power it did back then.
I realy don't want a supercharger as I had one (procharger D1SC) for it but changed mind. Looking for a sleeper.
And the Motown blocks and be safly built to a 427ci and still have .225 walls.
Motown are also casted with ribs on the sides of the block for more support.

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
Is the rear end or chassis anywhere near supporting that kind of power? That's the first question I'd be asking.
Second how much street driving are you going to be doing?
How much track time?
MPG a issue at all? (supported by the other few questions on top)
After getting though those questions might end up with a powerplant for your car. Lol.

Yes the chassis is fine Full BMR,12 bolt (don't like9").stock wheels with M/T, Aluminum driveshaft. SSM subframes with extra cross tie in. And trans is brand new in the crate rated at 700hp. Stall and rear end gear is up in the air right now. Had cage but it is being removed.
As far as driving Very Very little nice days only, local shows, say 200mile per year. Maybe 1 or 2 track passes, so realy a real fast street car.But
don't want that in the 92"
So back to the motor will these heads work on a SR or a HSR?

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
Ok so found a shop that does alot of pro-drag racing cars.
And this is what I will be buying...
Motown 400 block .30 over 4 bolt billet mains
Mahle rods 6" H-beam
Eagle 4340 forged crank
Mahle or JE coated pistons (-5cc)
All-Pro 23* 340cfm 64cc
They offer polished rods, many coatings, and a ton of other thing!
As far as cams .600/.630 so we get the 358cfm intake and 251cfm exhaust
Good news----600hp isn't a problem at all without nitrous
Bad news-----cost more than 10k

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
Why don't you buy a 350 and get the powerhouse 383 kit, with a nice set of heads you should be close to 600hp, its a bit cheaper. Super Chevy did a build up on it and I think it only took like 8k for the whole build up. A 350 is a good street engine because nobody expects it to make 600 hp. You seem like you are going to be a street racer since you are taking out the cage so you should look into a powerhouse kit.

This isn't going to be helpful, i mean at all, but with a 10k budget for my engine i'd go nuts... whats this going into?

Re: Help me build a killer motor!
I wanted a stock look as the car is being restored to a factory look. Car shold be ready for paint in April and only need a motor.
I like how strong a Motown 406ci block is. Rather than a 350ci. THe motown is 10X stronger. I realy don't need the forged internals or the billet main caps but I like it to be the strongest. And with any motor all the power is in the flow of the heads. BES uses these All-Pro 340cfm heads then ports them more. Rummer has it 370cfm at 600 lift. With forged internals NOS is a easy hr install away.
The ALL-Pro heads are alot of the 10k+ but compared to AFR,PRO1,TRICKFLOW they are about twice the flow. More than the flow I need but can't hurt now I just need to get a SR or MR to flow MAX cfms.
OH and the short block is only $6850.
