Installed 383/T5 tonight... *PICS*
Sorry for the crappy pics... but it was dark out by the time we finished up.... and I already got black finger prints on the brand new coolant and washer resevoir..
The engine bay paint and soon to be body paint is PPG sunset red (3 stage candy)

lookin good man...lovin the motor..and the paint is nice..really nice..whats it runnin ya to have that done? gotta be somewhere around what i paid for mine...

My dad and I are doing all the work ourselves, so the only expenses are materials... We are trying to do everything for under 10 grand.

I went through over 50 thirdgens at boneyards before I found that heater box... I couldn't believe how many were rusted out!
This was the best one I could find... but the morons that pulled it ripped off one of the corners because they couldn't get a bolt out... there was also some rust on the bottom edge, so I cut off all the edges and welded on new metal... then gave it the 3 stage PPG sunset red treatment.

I meant 10 grand for the whole car.. including engine, paint, wheels, tires, roll cage, SFCs, relocation brackets, struts/shocks, springs... etc.

hawks, wc t5 lasted most of last summer on an afr aluminum head 383, last time at sparta it started jamming, he drove it home in 5th only, he only ran slicks a couple times but then the clutch slipped launching, i think the t5 will be the first part to let go, or an axle if your launching it with slicks and stock rear...i would love to runa 700 with my 615 big block but i know it won't take it so im going t400. that is some nice clean looking engine bay and motor though...check out the t5 upgrades.... would suck to just get it out and have it break...car looks great though...

Yeah... I was there when his T5 ate it... and for the record I believe that was the NON WC version. Are you the guy with the black 2nd gen? That thing was seriously hard core!
As for the rear... It's a Borg Warner 9-bolt disc rear end with 3.27 gears.
I will upgrade parts as they go.
As for the engine internals... I'm going to keep it a secret for now... but it is 11.5:1 CR.

Ya Louich is the guy that was there with the 10 sec 2nd gen Formula that smoked his Stall
Thats close to the compression that I'll be running this year, gave up on the 9:1, It'll be too long till I get the charger, as in like 3 years.

the one for this summer is a 615 merlin big block with some monster aluminum heads, 400 trans and 35 spline 9 inch for my street car
oh ya. its going into an 86 camaro...

I assume he has lowering springs, and when you do that the struts travel is decreased. With that plate, the strut can compress and rebound the amount it was designed for. Or something like that.

Im pretty sure that those plates are exactly as you said to allow the strut to have the correct travel. But if you look a little closer you will also see that they have adjusters on the side of them so that caster and camber can be adjusted for different driving situations.
