Re: SLP intake

On the 89 down SLP cold air induction system the ducting from the SLP air box is the factory GM ducting that SLP modified with an air flow straightener riveted into the ductwork. On the 90 up TPI SLP cold air induction system the ducting is just the factory GM ducting that all TPI Firebirds used. If installing the 90 up SLP system in a Firebird you don't even need the ducting supplied with the SLP cold air induction system. You only need the ducting if installing the SLP cold air induction system on a Camaro. Camaros don't actually need a SLP cold air induction system because their air induction system doesn't suck compared to the Firebird. Install K&N air filters and do the air box mods or Hawk's lower air box mod and it flows just as well or better than the SLP cold air induction system.

I wouldn't want to break up the unique components from an 89 down SLP system, a 89 TTA SLP system, or a dual inlet 90 up SLP system. On a 90 up single inlet SLP system the intake ducting isn't unique. It's the same part as any 90 up TPI Firebird.

I was wondering if that duct was the original 90 and up GM part # duct - thanks for the info - but I'm guessing a 90-92 single duct is still somewhat hard to come by? Especially one in pretty good shape.

Re: SLP intake

@banksGTA FYI - if you do split it up, I may be interested in buying the duct

It wasn’t my plan to spilt it up but it’s sitting on a shelf doing nothing.

Re: SLP intake

I've only seen a couple of the 90-92 ducts that had been modified by SLP, the rest were just the standard GM duct like this one
