A/C System

I replaced the entire air conditioning system on my '91 GTA with a Stage 3 kit from Original Air. So now I have a complete stock A/C system available (condensor, compressor, accumulator, evaporator, manifold w/hoses, and hard line). About the only thing you would need would be new o-rings. Would prefer to sell as a complete set, but I am open to parting it out if the interest is there. Not sure how much interest there is for this, or if it would be easier to part out. Nor do I have a clue as to how much a reasonable price would be so I'm going to go with $125 plus shipping/obo. If it doesn't sell soon, I'm probably going to keep the evaporator and condenser and toss the rest.

Will it fit a 92 z28 with a 5.7?

Yes it will. It came off a '91 GTA with the 5.7.

Re: A/C System

How many miles on the compressor?
Might be interested in that and some hoses if you decide to part it out.
I'm local LA, so could pick it up.

I'm willing to part it out, especially if you're willing to pick up. I really hate shipping large/heavy items. I'm up in Moorpark, right off the 118. What parts did you want? The compressor and the hoses?

Re: A/C System

The compressor probably is original. If so, then it's at about 150,000 miles but I hardly ever used my A/C. I live on the coast so it really wasn't needed much.

Compressor, accumulator, and the hoses are probably going to be tossed here soon if nobody wants them.

Re: A/C System

I think I will be better off getting a new compressor as everything is brand new.
Might be interested in the hoses if you decide to toss them.

Just curious why you went with the aftermarket system and what your thoughts were about that system and the installation procedure, etc?

The stock compressor is crap (notoriously one of the worst designs ever). Since I wanted to replace it, figured I'd go ahead and replace the whole system since its a good idea to replace the hoses and accumulator whenever the system is cracked open. At that point, why not just replace the condenser and evaporator while I'm at it since those are the only parts left?

I totally agree with you!
Thinking of doing the same thing...
Mind if I ask what you paid for the new system?
Do you feel it is a good kit?

I bought the stage 3 kit. It is a complete kit and I am very happy with it. I got this kit here:

https://www.originalair.com/88-92-ca...-r134a-stage-3

What's weird (to me) is that when I bought mine a few months ago, I was able to buy a polished compressor as an upgrade. Now the only options are standard finish or satin black. With the polished unit and shipping, it came to just over a grand for the stage 3 kit. There are cheaper options (stage 1 or 2). The stage three comes as a complete system whereas the stage 2 doesn't have an evaporator. The stage 1 is half the price, but it doesn't come with a condenser or evaporator.

Re: A/C System

Back to topic:

Most of the system is on hold for drb930.

I still have the evaporator and condenser if anyone is interested in them. They are original NOS parts off my '91 GTA. They're both in pretty good shape in case anyone wants NOS parts to replace theirs. If you're interested, shoot me a PM with a fair offer. If not, they'll sit boxed up in the corner.
