AFR 190RE heads
190cc runners, 66cc chambers, angle plugs, 2.05/1.60 valves
Picked these up two years ago, got busy with my job so was never home to use them. Now I'm clearing out parts, these are the first to go.
Located in White Deer, TX, 79097. I paid $1200 when I bought these, they were literally taken out of the shipping box to inspect them, then reboxed and there they have sat since Feb 2012. I am asking $1000 firm, shipping should be around $50.
Not wanting to trade for anything as I have too much stuff sitting around my house and garage as it is.
More pics available upon request.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
What's the difference between the AFR 190s I could buy from AFR and these?

Re: AFR 190RE heads
I have emailed AFR to see if the "RE" designation means anything. I will get back with you on this when I get their response.
Other than the ones you purchase from AFR being brand new and my set being used, I don't have a clear answer.
Bear with me, I don't know how long they will take in responding.

I'm pretty sure AFR heads usually have about a 3" logo on the front of heads covering that whole front accesorry pad...I could stamp those letters in with letter punches

Re: AFR 190RE heads
I have a set of old AFR 190 purchased new from AFR around 1992. They have smooth machined pads on the ends with no AFR logo. They look exactly like the ones pictured here except they have 190 on them not 190 RE. The combustion chambers are 74cc.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
I haven't been ignoring the question, but I haven't heard back from AFR yet. I will call AFR tomorrow morning.
As to whether they are legit AFR heads, they do have the "A" cast into the surface of the heads like most if not all AFR heads I have ever seen.
Here is another photo of that, notice the "A" cast in between the exhaust ports.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
Okay, finally got through to AFR. The tech I talked to could only tell me they weren't their newer heads (duh), and little else.
I looked at the porting centers listed on the AFR website, attempted to call Slover's, without success (they don't open til 10AM for anyone else trying to reach them by phone), then called Frankenstein Racing Heads in DFW.
The man I spoke to said they were likely first generation AFR heads, he had no idea what the "RE" signifies (something AFR stamped on them that meant something back then, no idea what), and they are good street heads, but that if someone is wanting to build an actual race engine, there are better versions available now (which makes sense......just look at their website to see how they are evolving and improving their designs).
So what these heads appear to be, from professionals in the industry, are 1st generation AFR heads, probably originally cast in the 90's. Beyond that, I cannot seem to find any further information.
Hope this helps............

Re: AFR 190RE heads
Email from AFR I received today:
"
Eddie,
You have an older (10+ years) set of our 190cc Race heads. This is a relatively dated design, however it was a very good casting. Being that they are this old, you should have the combustion chambers CC’d and intake runner flow benched to confirm #’s. There is no way to tell what may have been modified once they left AFR.
Hope this helps. If you have further questions on our product please call us, toll free 877-892-8844."

Re: AFR 190RE heads
I was just going to chime in and saw that AFR finally got back to you about this. My AFR heads were made the year before they switched to their new series and don't even look like these so they would def be older AFR heads. Most likely they flow ~250 cfm at 0.500 lift.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
I wanna also chime in here and confirm that these are older AFR's. The large A cast into the side of the head designates their casting. I have a set of their 180s, Which also have smooth surfaces on the ends with hand punched numbers/letters in the end of the head. These are their "Pre" Elimator heads and from my understanding are very close in numbers and performance capability of the newer design. I am curious to see the numbers yours come up with as a buddy of mine has a set of these 190s on a 406.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
I purchased the AFR 190 heads years ago. I doubt if there a whole lot of a difference between the 190
and the 195 Eliminator street heads. Now if I was drag racing and looking for a couple of tenths that would be different.
The tech rep said that they were ok when I ordered a new ZZ409 cam for the new Dart 400 build.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
Leaving this afternoon to go work a well about 4 hours from home. Not sure how long I will be gone, just guessing about 3-4 weeks.
Just letting anyone who might be interested in these heads what is happening as I don't always solid internet access out on these jobs.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
Taking these off the board due to a lack of interest. Thanks for the feedback and comments from members while I had them listed.
I'll hold on to them a while. Who knows, I might be in a position sometime in the future to start with this hobby again and be able to use them.

Right on, I assume they used a 4" pipe? I am just curious b/c my heads should have similar numbers.

For the price these are hard to beat. I have these same heads that have been ported by Lloyd Elliot and they flow around 285-200 at .600 lift. I have the smaller 2.02 valves also.

Re: AFR 190RE heads
AFR's have always been top of the line heads. These are very good heads and well worth the money. If I had the cash right now these would be mine. These heads with the right setup can easily make 500 HP.
