OB1 to OB2 adapter
Anyone have any recommendations for an OB1 to OBD2 adapter cable? I received a craftsman CMMT77693 for Christmas and picked up a cheap no-name brand adapter cable on eBay which, no surprise, doesn’t work. The reader doesn’t turn on at all no matter what state the car is in. I got it to turn on for a second when it was connected as I turned the engine off, but it shut off again right after.
Fuses are good, and I used a rental code reader on the car (that had an adapter with it) that worked just fine so I think that the cheap adapter is the weak link here. I also understand there is a chance (craftsman says it can read “some” OB1 data) that it can’t read any of my data but it would at least turn on, right?
Apologies if there’s any dumb logic in here, I’m a newbie oh, and merry Christmas!

Re: OB1 to OB2 adapter
They’re pretty dodgy about it online, not mentioning if it is or using vague terms when they do (so, probably not.) I emailed support to get specifics. Either way, it was a gift so if it doesn’t work out for the bird, I’ll keep it around for some other cars.
