Temperature Gauge slowly stopped working 89GTA

Anybody ever fix their factory engine temperature gauge stopped working? I remember trying to mess with some wire that I think went to a temperature sending unit and notice I was messing things up cuz the temp gauge still worked afterward but it was slower to register and then it would show like 10 degrees less than what it used to show. It has a 160 degree thermostat, And it usually would read 160 right on the money, but after messing w/some wire, think I was trying to clean it cuz there was like oil seapage around it, and then for i'll say 6-12 months after it would still work but it would read 150 degrees instead 160 degrees... anyways, and then eventually it stopped working at all. Not only did it read 10 degrees cooler, but it would take much longer to warm up and register anything... Anyways I remember seeing the gauge trying to work intermittently until it eventually doesn't work anymore. Any helpful advice on how to fix it and/or we might be installing another temp gauge if we can't fix it.

I'll update if we are able to figure this out ourselves. It very well could be a loose wire.

Did you check the connection of the wire to the sender unit on the side of the driver's side cylinder head? Could be some corrosion stopping a good connection?

Aye, we resolved this one, gosh darn it and I didn't follow up. All be darned the dang wire/connector got disconnected from the sendor. It took us awhile to figure out which temperature sendor went to the guage. But yeah this one ended up being an easy fix. Just connected the wire back up. Sorry for not following up.
