Car: 89 GTA, 84 T/A
Engine: L98 stock, Carbed 350
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.27
84 Optical VSS
I have an 84 Firebird, with the mechanical speedometer, with the VSS mounted on the back side.
I have lost cruise control, it worked last year, before changing engines.
When I put in a new engine, I also removed the ECM.
It appears that everything is working except for the VSS signal to cruise module.
It states it the service manual:
"The VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR and VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR BUFFER can only be tested with all the circuits that use the speed signal connected to it."
Does not having the VSS attached to the ECM cause it to not operate properly?

That was what it was, looked right at it in the wiring diagrams, and never noticed the vss was grounded through the computer.
