I need help. I speak from Brazil.
Hello everyone, I'm going to the end of my restoration of my 1987 Pontiac Formula 305 carb. And now I'm having trouble finishing the cabling.
If you are having trouble understanding, I apologize, I speak from Brazil and I am writing with the help of Google Translator.
There is a loose cable between the engine and the carburetor. a sensor or a valve. I do not know what it is and what it is for. The picture below is for you to try to tell me what it is: https://uploaddeimag...ns/img_5595-jpg
I will eliminate the canister antipollution system, and would like to know if I will have problems related to this.

I have problems with the headlights, he has his own will. I imported a GUIDE driver module by my mechanic. wonder if this will solve the problem

You may have better luck in the carburetor forum. I can't open the links from my work computer, so not much help with that. Are you sure it's a carb and not a TBI unit? 86 was last year for carb from the factory? sensor or valve sounds like idle air control valve.

Looks like a carb to me; a Q-Jet specifically.
The thing in the first photo looks like one of the vacuum lines for the HVAC control system. Probably the one that comes through the firewall near the heater hoses as part of the HVAC wiring harness, and goes to the vacuum accumulator in the fender in front of one of the wheels. (can't remember which wheel it's near... someone on this forum will know that, though)
I would recommend leaving the canister system alone and putting it back like it came. It's not hurting anything.
I would also recommend getting rid of that rubber fuel line, before it bursts and the car catches fire from fuel spraying out of it. Make or buy a new steel line, again, like it came.

your formula looks really great!
on the question of the headlights, i am not sure exactly from your statement on what the problem is, but you are correct that the module labeled Guide is the module that actuates the lights up and down. this could be the issue, however if the motors on the lights just seem to run and run on their own after you flip the light switch to the up or down position, it likely could also be the plastic bushings inside the motors have crumbled, this is a common issue. good news they are easy to rebuild if this is the case. if you find this is the problem get a kit like this

note that likely you could buy the $20 kit that only has the bushings and not the nylon gear, but check first and confirm what you need
