Gauge fuse blows with key on

Car in question is a friend's 85 TPI iroc. The car runs but the gauge fuse blows as soon as the key is turned on. So far we have disconnected the aftermarket radio, pulled the power wire under the hood for the ecm, disconnected all relays under the hood, disconnected the multifunction switch, cruise control, brake switch, and pretty much every harness under the dash. Lighter is disconnected. Cluster is pulled. Distributor is disconnected. I'm lost. We pulled the iginition switch and found one of the terminals was a little dark on the one that has the Pink wire with the brown tied into it. We thought maybe the ignition switch was causing it so planned on replacing it.

Any insight where else to look is beyond helpful. Everything in the car operates as it should aside from the ses light which is obviously tied in with the gauge fuse.

Re: Gauge fuse blows with key on

The gauges are on a circuit that has a short to ground when the key is activated.

It has to be something on the same circuit as the gauges.

Inspect each branch on that circuit.
