I'm having a serious problem with my fuse block wiring.

I had a wire plugged into the "ign" pin on the fuse block (for a relay signal in my engine compartment), and it shorted. It blew the "gauges" fuse, which I replaced, but it's still dead.

I have no gauges, and the "ign" pin on my fuse block is still dead. So clearly, something ELSE blew when the fuse blew.

BUT, the coil still gets power and the car still turns over (and runs, but the drivetrain is totally custom/stand alone), so clearly the ignition switch itself is working.

What else can I check??

Your next check will be to verify that all of the fusable links attached to the large terminal on your starter solenoid are actually conducting power . There are three ? of them I believe , and looks alone won't always tell you when one has failed . The insulation can look OK , but the small gauge wire within can have a open in it .

If that doesn't solve it , remember , you ignition switch is NOT one big contact that turns everything on all at once , it's actually several different contacts all controlled by one mechanical motion (turning the key on) . You could have all but one of the switches' contacts good , with the one bad contact having been blasted apart during the short circuit that took out the fuse .

Hopefully , the cheap easy fix will be a bad fusable link

Thanks for the reply. I just got done fixing it. I'm super embarrassed...

Turns out, that I because I had too big fuse in there, when it blew (30 amps), it charred up the fuse contacts, so the new fuse still didn't connect. Cleaned it off, put the correct fuse in, and it's fixed.

So, in short, I'm a moron.
