they get their power from the contact pad on your rear trim. make sure the contacts are clean ,bulb and contacts are good. it should work.

Re: Need help about my CHMSL

make sure the wiring connector on the contact pad did not come unplugged. lift hatch and carefully take out the screws of the contact pad (located above little light that shines on the spare tire area). pull up the contact pad carefully and see if the wiring connector has fallen off the bottom. if it has, use a suitable tool to retrieve it and plug it back in. if the little plastic "fingers" have broken off the connector use one or two dabs of ELECTRONICS SAFE RTV (no acid when it cures) stuff that does not smell like vinegar, and put the small dabs on the OUTSIDE of connector where they mate. let rtv set up for a while before subjecting car to any vibration that may knock it loose again. can be accessed again in the future if need be-don't get crazy with the rtv. while you are at it clean the contact points and the pads with a pencil eraser! Super easy job.
