Alternator Sine Waves

Anybody have an idea, process or technique for measuring sine waves? I have an old (10+ years) alt putting out good voltage. Problem: + - 3 degrees of timming variance at higher rpms 3 to 6 k. I read recently that this may be my problem. (every other possible avenue for this issue has been addressed)Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks in advance.

Try shimming your distributor.

Thanks Apeiron, I verified oil pump driveshaft length clearance of .010 to .040 during initial assembly but I will check it again. Thanks for the idea as I have not rechecked that since pre assembly fitting.

Cheched up and down movement of the main shaft as D.U.I. Distributors instructs. Yes I have movement so the distributor is not bottomed out.

Re: Alternator Sine Waves

Can't you just measure AC voltage? IIRC, you should never see more than 3VAC or you need a new alternator (Or to replace your regulator in the alternator)
