replacing the relay pigtails

is it acceptable to use butt crimp connectors to replace the wiring pigtails for the MAF power and burnoff relays? apparently there are several schools of thought on this subject. what is recommended and why?

Re: replacing the relay pigtails

For a temporary fix, sure. Long term, they will fail and be difficult to troubleshoot

Solder/shrink wrap is the fastest solution. If you have a crimper tool, order new terminals and repin the connector for a no-splice repair

Re: replacing the relay pigtails

Pocket is right. I echo his solution with a few more details.

Soldering the wires and then putting heat shrink tubing over them is a very good solution for connecting two wires together. The electrical connection will be solid and the heat shrink tubing will provide a weather-tight seal.

If the wires are fine and it's just the connector terminals that are not providing a solid connection, then replacing the terminals as Pocket suggested is also a very good solution.

Make sure that the connector housing is in good shape. If that is broken, then you will have to get a new connector and wire the pigtails; just like what you were originally saying.
