Wiring help

I'm sure this is a stupid question so i apologize in advance, but to make it short, I'm doing an engine swap and I had someone else build my harness because I am not good with wiring at all. Anyways I have the wire that go through the fender into the passenger side interior, some of the wires just plug in as they are supposed to and the others are just hanging there (as seen in the picture) and I need to hook then up. Problem is, I have no idea where they go so that what I need help with. I'm sorry if its dumb but I would greatly appreciate any input

IF we had any idea of what car you are working on and what you are swapping to we could direct you

You have a new harness so that assumes you are swapping ECMs ??? in which case any original wiring will not be connected to the new ECM.
The TCC wires you mention need connecting to the brake switch and trans connector

Re: Wiring help

Okay, sorry I didn't mention that stuff. It's an 88 bird that originally had a 2.8 mpfi. I swapped in a 96 b body lt1, and a 700r4. I had a member on the site here build me a harness from my old v6 harness and the lt1 harness. It's bare bones, no ac, no egr, no rear o2 sensors, aftermarket tach.

Re: Wiring help

If you had someone modify your original harness and build you a custom LT1 harness to match up to it then thats the person you should be asking since they are the only one that knows what was - or wasn't - done. If you look at a wiring schematic and you head starts to hurt....... your better off paying a pro 'cause none of us can help you much with a custom built harness.

If you plan to take on the wiring,.... take some of the $$ you save by not paying a professional and buy yourself an 88 shop manual. Then you will have all the wiring info that is speific to your cars year, engine type, and tranny type.

In the meantime: Here is the wiring info for your 88,.....

Drivers side firewall:

Pass side under dash:
1988 C207 (maybe 89 too)

PIN Color From / To (Notes)
A Brn ALDL (pin C) / ECM (AIR control)
B* Pnk (Red) INJ1 TBI (TBI)
B* Pnk/Blk (Pink) INJ1 (V6)
B* Pnk/Blk (Black) INJ1 (TPI)
C* Brn/Wht ECM / CE Light
D* Brown (Tan/Wht ) Fan
E Wht/Blk ALDL (pin B) / ECM (test)
F Pnk/Blk IGN fuse / ECM
G* Pnk/Blk (White) INJ2 TBI (TBI)
G* Pnk/Blk (Pnk/Black) INJ2 / (V6)
G* Pnk/Blk (Black) INJ2 (TPI)
H Tan/Blk ALDL / TCC-ECM (auto)
H Tan/Blk ALDL / Upshift (stick)
J* Org ALDL (pin E) / ECM
K Brn/Yellow (brown) ECM / Buffer
L Drk Blue (purple) Vats to ECM
M Blk/Wht VSS,P/N switch / Grd
N Org/Blk ECM / P/N switch
P
R Ppl/Wht Crank Fuse / Cold Start-ECM

Since your 'custom' LT1 harness is somewhat marked..... you'll need to figure out where on your cars original harnesses those un-connected wires are supposed to go. The info above wil tell you where most of the unconnected wires need to be spliced, but don't expect that this to be a complete listing. There are other plugs in the car that usually need to get modified too. ( ECM connector, ALDL connector, dash connector, speedometer converter, ect... ) but at least there's plenty of info there to get you started.

Re: Wiring help

I've tried contacting him through messages and over the phone and he's just ignoring me. Kinda frustrating
