dual light HID setup, brights wont turn off, 89 camaro
Hey all, added another set of D2S projectors to my brights. I'm having a problem I dont understand.
Lights all work, pull the switch out all the way and the low beams come on, flip the brights on and the low beams go off, high beams come on. Except for when you flip the bright switch again, the brights stay on and the low beams DONT come back on. I looked through the headlight circuit and I dont get why they stay on and the low beams dont come on at all.
This is all on a stock 89 camaro wiring harness w/ foglights. Both HID systems have their own relay harnesses. The brights relay trigger is tied to the green wire in the brights circuit.

Could be I suppose. When I plug normal halogen lights in to both low and high beams they work just fine though.
I noticed that the low beam socket has multiple wires running to each connector, I need to trace them and see whats connected to what.

Yes. the ballast relay is controlled by the LT GRN wire
When you flip the bright switch, it should cut power to the brights relay in turn cutting power to the HID relay, but it doesn't seem to loose power. I will check with the DDM when I get home.
One thing I noticed is that when you hit the brights switch to return to normal beams, the bright indicator just barely stays lit (you have to put your hands up to the dash but it's noticeable) So there is still a residual charger getting through somewhere.
