Testing a replacement gauge cluster

I'm looking at the pinout for the connector for an analog dash. I want to test it before installing it completely by hooking it to power and the individual sensors. Am I reading the pinout correctly and there is a single power and ground wire plus individual wires for each sensor and indicator light?

I believe GM also has a test tool but I'm not having much luck finding anyone outside the dealership with one and I don't want to pay them to test it if it really is as simple to connect up as it looks on the pinout diagram.
