Previous owner ripped entire fuse box apart... Help!

I'm still new to these cars so be gentle if I assume anything stupid. I went to start chasing wires after my engine swap to fix some of my interior/HVAC issues and almost upended my toolbox when I saw what I believe is my fuse box... It is located underneath and a little left of the steering wheel, correct? Because what I found there was a bunch of wires, wired straight into the box with spade connectors, no fuses and no panel showing which block connects to what.... It appears there was an alarm at some point installed (horribly) so I doubt a diagram would even help. Any ideas on how to sort this mess out?? I've been searching for ideas and came up empty.

hate to say spend money, but one option to get your mess cleared up is to go to a salvage yard and cut you another fuse block out. If you can leave enough wire attached you can rewire yours correct following the wire colors on the donor block.....or pigtail your wires onto the new blocks cut wires also.

But those wires should be behind that with the fuses facing me, right? What a mess!

Correct me if I'm wrong....but it almost looks like the block itself is upside-down? Does it look like that on both sides?

Good call. I'll poke around tomorrow and see. If I flip that and there's fuses on the other side.....

you were right on the money. fuse box was just flipped, whover did the alarm looks like they gave a monkey some LSD and wire strippers and said have fun, its all spliced to hell. But at least i have a starting point to start chasing my issues now. Can anyone post either the diagram or at least a pic of the panel that shows which block controls which component?

I can when I get to my computer tonight...

It sucks that your wiring is all hacked up. mine was in a similar fashion when I received my car.
wiring is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. just go slow and take your time. and if you have any questions, ask someone.
there's no such thing as a stupid question.

Thanks, you really saved my bacon there! I should be ok with the rest, just cleaning up a lot of shoddy splice work and making sure everything goes where it should.

that's the fun part! lol..
I had to replace my entire dash and hvac harness because it was so bad. (tons of missing connectors) Honestly I'm really surprised it didn't burn! ...glad it didn't though.. for its age, it looks great. and no rust!

Re: Previous owner ripped entire fuse box apart... Help!

Hahaha that is one man's opinion! I'll probably have to do the same, just went for a spin and my dash lights decided they weren't gonna work I had no idea what kind of project I got myself into with this car. Kind of like it that way though, my last fun car was a mean little 5 speed dakota but nothing was wrong with it and i got bored. I should be busy all winter with this sucker.

I will be rewiring my Camaro in the next few months, to fix a bad security install, and theft damage that I have patched up.
why don't you get an economy 18 circuit harness from Speedway they are less than $200. and not pushing 20-30 years old!

Nice! I only had the 3.9 but it ran like a raped ape and sounded like a 318. Well, almost lol. I wish I never sold it. So much fun throwing it around in the snow. ooooh, speaking of that.... How do these babies do in that department?
