Switching ECU's for Fixing VATS Problems
I was wondering if it is possible to switch computers on my 89 firebird 5.0 TBI from another firebird/camaro with the same TBI setup that doesnt have VATS system? Is VATS part of the main computer or is it seperate? On my firebird I have done my own setup where i cut the wires, measured the resistance on my key, inlayed resistors onto the wiring creating a bypass, it seemed to do the trick for a good while but now I am having trouble still. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You are incorrect, the passkey enable is in the eprom programing checksum. look at the definition files info $8d 32 32B 6E 61 !

Overpriced is being charitable.
Grand-Theft Auto is more appropriate.
His diagram is correct, insofar as illustrating the "signal" into the ECM.
What he carefully omits, is that it is a simple 30hz-5volt-to ground signal.
Some years back, boardmember "s10wildside" built an equivalent oscilator
circuit for me for $15 bucks. You can check to see what his current status is.
I'll take tunedperformance at his word about the checksum issue.
In one of the previous posts about this satanic issue, someone posted
a snippet of the binary, pointing out the simple boolean control element:
when set to 0, VATS input ignored, when set to 1 require VATS signal
for normal operation.
Good luck.
