Tach Talk

Using a test bulb (a side marker bulb works well) connect one end to the white wire going into the dash from the distributor, and the other end to ground.

When the engine is idleing does the bulb pulse?

so i used a test light and check the wire from the coil and i get power but then when it goes up to the tach filter and comes back around, it doesnt have power other the otherside. I never removed the tach filter so the ground isnt bad but i cant even find a replacement for it online anywhere

Re: 82 z28 Tach

i cant even keep the car running long enough to even atempt to set the timing. this time i started it and it held to the ecm but then back fired out of a throttle body and died. the rest of the times it loses connection to the ecm and the rpms just start rising.

Filter Frustration

The aforementioned filter costs only $9.

You should be able to find the wire which will give a passthru of the filter.

RockAuto.com has them for $16 which they call a ‘wire’ so check that out to make sure the filter is on that wire.

Corvette Central has the direct replacement for $55.

I don’t have time to address the stalling problem, hopefully someone will chime in.
