Re: HELP NO REVERSE LIGHTS!!!!

Your neutral safety switch needs to be adjusted. It's attached to the side of the shift mechanism.

Take off the shift plate and it'll be obvious.

Loosen the two or three screws that fasten the switch to the shifter and rotate the switch fore/aft until the back-up lights stay on. Before you button it up, confirm that the engine cranks only in P and N and not in any other range.

Re: HELP NO REVERSE LIGHTS!!!!

Heres what mine looks like. Im guessing your talking bout the silver part that attaches the plug to the the rest of the shifter assembly?
(The yellow wires and black and red are ran for switches so ignore those)

Re: HELP NO REVERSE LIGHTS!!!!

I got my camaro thru auto repairables. The driver's side took a hard hit replaced the ¼ and the door already. But the previous owner put in a B&M ratchet shifter. The reverse ( or back-up lights ) aren't working. I see a blue and a green wire that was clipped. Could one of these be wired to a switch?
I like the idea of it being hard to shift. If I ever get car-jacked, I'd just put it in park and lmao.
On another plus side, my wife can't drive it either.

Yes the blue and green wires are connected to the reverse light switch on the shifter.

Connect those to the
blue and green wires which you should find under the console.

Re: HELP NO REVERSE LIGHTS!!!!

Is the same switch applicable for a '91 RS 5-speed? I'm having the same issue with intermitent/no reverse lights.

Probably not. The manual transmission probably uses another switch. Most likely it's plugged into the transmission.

Perhaps someone else can confirm this for you.

Re: HELP NO REVERSE LIGHTS!!!!

Yes, left/driver side of the transmission body has a two-prong plug, with a dark-blue wire and a light-green wire. The dark-blue wire should have power with key-on, the light-green wire sends the power when it is activated by the reverse gear in the transmission.

Hope this helps.

It sounds like the switch needs adjustment.

You can monitor the by connecting a 12volt ready LED across it and mounting it in the cockpit to prove or disprove the switch is the problem.

Re: HELP NO REVERSE LIGHTS!!!!

The T-5 RLS is on the side of the transmission. Driver's side, rear of the case, right in front of where the extension housing bolts to it. Very eeeeeezy to replace. Might need tightening. Might just be the connector loose or something like that.
