Question about hooking up Autometer Trans gauge to ignition source

I want to hook up an Autometer ( Electric) trans temp gauge. I need to hook it up to an " ignition source or other switched 12v source". The easiest place for me to hook it into ( due to the location of the gauge) would be into the fuse panel to the IGN slot. I currently have my fuel pump operating out of that slot. I have a male spade running to an inline fuse which runs through the firewall to the relay in the engine compartment.

I want to use the IGN slot which currently has the male spade in it for the fuel pump. How do I go about tapping into the IGN slot when the spade for the fuel pump is already connected to the slot? I want to make sure I am doing this safely and not running the risk of an electrical problem or a fire.

As you can see I am a bit challenged when it comes to electric.

Thanks

there should be more than one ign slot. if not then youll either have to move the fuel pump (its better to use a switch 12v thats already under the hood to trigger the relay) or fine another switched 12v slot to run the gauge.

I taped into a 12v switched wire in the back of my cluster wiring. It was pretty easy to do and it looks clean as you cant even see it

heres the diagrams of the 2 plugs in the back of the cluster if you do it that way

Re: Question about hooking up Autometer Trans gauge to ignition source

My fuse panel has a lot of slots that are not being utilized since I switched to carb and have switched to a non airbag wheel could I use the slots for the injectors ING #1 or ING#2. I also have an empty Radio slot ( 12v when key is in ign postion or Acc position) , which i think would work with my gauge. I may just go with the above , however I would llike to know if anyone of these would work should I need to run something from a switched source in the future.

Thanks
