Some wiring help please.
Hello, I had some questions on some wires around the console area in my 1986 trans am. The car was originally an auto but the P.O. converted it to manual. I have a 1988 camaro engine harness for the tpi.
I already know I need to wire in the speedO wires from my old harness. My questions are this. Will the driver Side connector be Plug and play?
What are the two plug ins on the tranny? It's the t5, there's one by the torque arm mount and one farther forward. I have pictures.
I also have a connector and some wires in the interior area that I'm confused about. They are located by where the center console covers.

the 2 plgus for the trany are the reverse lights, and the vss (vehicle speed sensor) the one at the rear is the vss, the one further forward is for the reverse lights.
the wires under the console are probably whats left of the auto shift connections.

Re: Some wiring help please.
reverse lights should be a light green wire comming out of the gear selector switch wiring. (from the old auto)

It appears that link needs a password and username. I will look tomorrow for that wire. Is it in the connector show in my first picture of the wires in the interior? I think i see alittle green wire there but can make it out.
Anyways does anyone have any info on the 2 big bulkhead connectors on the driver side for the interior and engine wiring harnesses? I assume that all the gages and stuff stayed the same thru the 86-88 models?

Used to be the go to site for wiring info.
Maybe too many outsiders using it so they locked them out?
In any case you have 6 wires in the plug in console that went to the auto shifter switch.
Org / blk no longer needed.
The 2 thick wires ( yellow / purple ? ) should now be on the clutch safety switch( were P/N switch)
The 2 wires left over are your backup lights than need extending to the switch on trans.
If you join them together and turn key on, lights should work

Yes it works fine now, i dont know what was wrong with it yesterday. So is the speedo wiring going to be a problem with the 1988 engine harness from a camaro? I found the connecter thats still in the car. It plugs into the harness with the yellow and purple wires from the speed sensor. Where does the computer get the speed from?
