What is This?
I'm posting this here as it seems like the best place. If I'm wrong, hopefully one of the mods can move it to the right place.
I found this under the carpet behind my rear seats and I'm curious to know what it is/does. I flipped through the wiring diagrams in my shop manual last night but I wasn't able to find any reference to it. Its riveted to the sheet metal, not bolted. My guess is its either some kind of sensor for the airbags, or its an electrical connector for the fuel pump?

Re: What is This?
When you end up having to drop your tank to replace the fuel pump you will see the wires plugged into that.
Any Air Bag related items will have the harness covered in bright yellow loom so you know its air bag stuff. (I have also seen orange on other makes)

Re: What is This?
Thanks! I forgot about the yellow wrap on all the airbag wiring. I have never seen where the wiring for the fuel pump passes through the body of the car like that. All the ones I've seen have run under the car along with the brake and fuel lines.

Re: What is This?
You're right about that. I suppose it could throw a person off with many having under hood fuse and relay panels. Everything related to that fuse panel would run under the vehicle on the outside with ignition power coming through the bulkhead connector.
