I have this problem where about every 2 seconds my car skips a beat. The ignition system stops and my headlights begin to dim and so does my cluster lights and i see the voltage gauge start to fall. This only happens for a fraction of a second like less than the time it takes for a light bulb to turn off. can a bad alternator cause this or should I look somewhere else.

Re: High speed short

I doubt it would be your alternator because even if that were to cut out entirely your cars battery should be able to run the car for a bit. I would look for a bad connection at one of the main power junction blocks and also your grounds.
