Gauge wiring 84 firebird
so here i sit with my guage pod out and getting ready to start wiring my speedhuts if ups ever shows up with them....
i cannot seem to locate the dash wiring for 84 in my haynes book, and even if i did it looks like a 3rd grader drew it.
im sure i could figure it out by trial and error. but heres hoping someone has a pinout for diagram for the 2 connectors that plug into the guage pod, or knows what colors im looking for
will be using factory wiring for
high beam and turn signal indicators
fuel level
and dash lighting
brake warning light
12v key on supply? (will run from fusebox if not enough power availible)
i think everything else will require new wiring

12v from Instrument Panel (Gauges) fuse will be Pink with a Black tracer wire... there are a few of them, but you only need one.
12v from Instrument panel (Lamps) fuse will be solid Grey... there also a few of these, you only need one.
The brake warning indicator light should be Tan with a White tracer.
Now the rest... I can only tell you how my 87 Camaro is wired, your 84 Bird may be the same, it may not be.
Fuel level gauge = solid Pink
High beam indicator light = solid light Green
Left signal indicator light = solid light Blue
Right signal indicator light = solid dark Blue

Re: Gauge wiring 84 firebird
thanks that gives me a place to start at least, i cant imagine these colors changing much over the years as every car had them albiety dashes changed somewhat
i have quite a bit of time to spend on the actual dash panel yet, since no one makes a piece for the 82-84 dash and i dont care for the look of the easy way out just slapping an aluminum panel up there i decided to fill all the holes on my idiot light dash panel and will then cut my own for the speedhut set.. the easy part is done filling the main part of the holes, now there is just gap filling and finish work to go.
the guages showed up yesterday and they are very nice, and they fit my low key style/factory look that i am trying to keep, very nicely.
