Auto Lights
Has anyone added auto headlights to their third gen car? Auto headlights like the ones on cars 10 or so years and newer. I have been thinking what all one would need to salvage off a car with auto lights. Does anyone know what voltage the light sensor operates on?

Re: Auto Lights
I can tell you my 97 Z28 has auto lights - they are activated by the light sensor which is in the dash - but also by the ebrake handle - when it's dark, ebrake up, no lights - ebrake down, lights come on - so there's something in the center console as well.

Re: Auto Lights
I wonder if the sensor just works an relay that goes to the light switch only. I pulled an light sensor out of an Caddy. I just do not know what voltage it work on. I was thinking someone may have taken a dash out of a car with auto lights. I am trying to update a few things on my 85 Z-28 Roadster. I want to put a power seat on passenger side, heated seats on both sides. Put hidden warning sensors on front and rear. Maybe a camera hidden on the rear. Thanks for your reply

Re: Auto Lights
Why not go to an electronics store and get a photodiode. Or you can search the net on how to use a regular LED as a photodiode. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I was going to build the entire circuit from scratch. The e-brake switch is not a bad idea that is probably there to keep the lights from going on when the car is not running that's a lot more simple and more hidden than running another switch in the console or dash.

The big advantage to the P-brake turning off the headlights is so when idling the headlights can, and should be off.
We’ve all seen the doofus-mobiles out there ▬ sitting in parking lots annoying drivers due to the fact they can’t even turn their headlights off.

If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going Backwards
Fog lights are not driving lights. They look doofy. Turn em off slow pokes.
How bout those nervous nellies too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime or if there is a little rain!

hmmm if it is a photodiode it might just be on a 12v dc circuit. how hard is it to find another if you blow the diode?
