Keyless Entry - I don't have power door locks

Keyless Entry - I don't have power door locks
How much of a PITA will it be to make my car have power locks and keyless entry? I'm just getting sick of reaching over and unlocking the passenger door all the time (lazy...I know, but I miss keyless entry so much!).
Has anyone here done it?

you can get a kit to give it power locks, you could always rip out a power setup out of a doner car......
im not sure how hard it is, you may want to check around and see how much it would be to have someone do it for you, may be worth it to pay someone

You can put in universal door lock actuators(about 10 bucks a piece) and get just an aftermarket keyless entry system and just use the remote to lock and unlock the doors. Can put in switches if you wanted to also. Probably cost no more than 50 bucks if you did it yourself.

I think this might work but it is a tid bit more than I was hoping to spend:

But if I got this would I be able to pop my hatch remotely as well?

That system will work. Quite expensive. The remotes are 4 button and you should be able to pop the hatch with it, but you will need a trunk/hatch pop solinoid if you dont have a power hatch. I would go to an audio store if you have one close to you and see what they have. They should have the universal actuators too. Check walmart, hhgreg, best buy, circuit city. They usally have these systems and could be on sale or be a clearence item. Do some searches and you will find one relatively inexpensive.

heck a keyless entry and alarm is expensive in its self for a good one, i spent almost $500 for mine and i have all power
i was going to get an alarm and keyless put on one of my box trucks but the cost of the alarm and then the lock motors i said to heck with it
you could just get a power lock set and not do key less

500 dollars . Way too much for an alarm with keyless. I use to work at a stereo shop and we would put in a remote start/alarm combo with keyless for almost half that installed.

Re: Keyless Entry - I don't have power door locks
2 way paging alarm, ing disable, & every option for the alarm (list is to long) except for remote start
good luck stealing this one with major work, i know if you cut the alarm wires it will not strat without having to re wire some other crap thats hidden somewhere else under the dash, plus i paid to have it hidden deep in the dash, got to take the dash almost completely out to get to the brains
i think the basic alarm for one of my box trucks (keyless entry, doors sensors, and the sensor to the door on the box, no shock sensor, boxtrucks move to much in the wind when parked to have one) but anyway that basic alarm and converting it to PDL's was i think was 300..... it was a nice basic alarm, it had some nice features that cloud control the parking lights, dome light, and like automatic door lock and unlock, but i never had it done
but he can get a basic alarm with the motors for the PDL of ebay for cheap, it will get the job done, may not have all the nice stuff to it

Re: Keyless Entry - I don't have power door locks
I truly am not interested in an alarm. I live in a small area where I would hear someone break in my car and considering the town I live in, I really doubt it would ever happen. I think putting an alarm in would cause more problems if anything, I'm sure it's a PITA.

Re: Keyless Entry - I don't have power door locks
If you have a hatch release button on the center console, you wont need a hatch pop solinoid, but if you dont have a release switch, you will need the solinoid. Will not be an issue if you have a computer or not. You can use an alarm system for only keyless entry and not use the alarm part of the system if thats all you can get for the price you want to spend.

I put the system below in my son's car. Works fine, just don't drop the key fobs in water. $100 gets you all you need for a basic setup.
