Need help, difference between Accel 8870 and Accel 8965 plug wires
Chimptoast on ebay sells pretty discount Accel spark plug wires, He no longer has the Accel 8965 which is for 87 and up TPI cars. He does, however, have Accel 8965 which says is only for 85-86 TPI cars. What is the difference between the two. I need new plug wires and I am really tempted to get the Accel 8870 since I don't know that there is a significant difference in length. They are both 8.8mm and both have the same tips/connections. Can I order the Accel 8870 and be ok? Or do I must buy the Accel 8965 in order for my car to properly run? Thanks.

I think (but I'm not sure) that the difference is the ends that attach to the cap. The 85-86 had the coil in cap style, which had this plate that went over the wires. So the ends of the wires had these indents to accomodate that plate. The newer used a remote coil, so the ends were just regular 90 degree angles.
Logic then says that the 85-86 version will work on the newer caps, but the new style will not work *ideally* on the earlier version.

Ok, but the actual "connection" is the same? As in, its not going to "fall off" or jump off or whichever? I can see your logic, so I'm going to ahead and order the 85-86 since the 87 up aren't available and they'll be hidden under the plenum extension. If they don't work, I'll let you guys know. Thanks.
