Engine dies then won't start back up
Hi,
I've been having a problem over the last couple of days with my '91 Trans Am and it's 305 TPI motor, where it will start and run for a while then it will die. When I try to start it back up, it tries to start and turns over/cranks and everything, but never catches.
I think this might be an electrical issue as it happened most recently today right after going over a speed bump (slowly). My dad and I popped the hood and got out of the car after trying to start it a couple of times. Then we jostled some of the wires around in the engine compartment, checking to make sure they were all tightly connected. Then got back in and tried it again and the engine fired right up and didn't give even a hiccup the rest of the way home.
So any pointers that could be given on what specifically to check for problems woudl be greatly appreciated. I just picked up the car a month and a half ago and am still pretty green when it comes to mechanical stuff, but I'm willing to learn.
Thanks,
Mike
