Viper Alarm Experts ....

Ok I have a viper alarm installed, model 600 ESP.
My problem is with the passenger’s door, that door is not protected from the alarm. Meaning, if I arm the alarm and open the passenger’s door nothing happens, however the driver’s door works great.

I am assuming (hahaha) that both doors will work off the dome lamp or something.

How can one door get protected while the other one isn’t, what wires should I be looking for??

Any suggestions / comments will be greatly appreciated.

The alarm should work off of the lamp just like you said. You can test it out by getting in the car, setting the alarm, and then turning on the dome light by using the switch. Post back your results.

Also, if you don;t have the installation manual, here you go: 600 ESP Install Manual Here

I did the test, armed the alarm, and turned on the dome light and..... nothing happens.
Is it safe to say the doors are not activated with the dome lamp?

Could the alarm be wired from the door switch?
Both Door switches work, meaning when I open either door the dome lamp comes on.

I did notice that if you turn the key backwards to the accessory position, when the driver’s door is open, I hear the warning buzzer. There is NO warning buzzer if the passenger door is open.

Getting more confused here

That is very strange indeed. At least there is some consistency with that the passenger door doesn't affect the alarm at all.

The way the system works, is that it is connected to a wire that is on the ground side of the dome light wiring. When the circuit is closed and the dome light turns on, the Viper senses the difference in potential (voltage) and sets off the alarm. If it does not work when you turn on the dome light, then it is simply connected to the wrong wire. Look back over your connections and make sure it is connected correctly.

One final test: take the bulb out of the dome light, and open the drivers door. If the alarm still goes off, then it is definitely connected to the wrong wire.

I remember hooking mine up to the wrong wire before. It was the correct color, but the wrong wire. Are you using the wires that are behind the kick-panel? The ones toward the center console have similar colors, but are not the correct wires.

The passenger door is now working!!

It appeard the passenger door was disabled / valet mode. What I did was open the door, pushed arm(lock) , disarm (unlock) and arm(lock) and now the system is working great.

I still dont know what wires are connected to the alarm, I should have including that I didnt install this alarm.

Thanks for your help!

I like my viper alot, I came with the car and I had the car for about 6-7 years, the only think that I am concerned about is one of the remotes is going bad. Other than that the Viper has been a real good alarm.

VATS-- cant help you much here because I dont have a stock ECM
