Need some help with tracing a wire in the car...

Hello all, hopefully someone out there can help me with this. I am trying to find the green wire that goes to the reverse lights. Starting at the actual tail light assembly in the rear of the car, the wire goes into the hatch area and runs along the drivers side rear inner wheel well. It then runs down to the floor, but I don't feel like taking the carpet out to see if it goes across to the passenger side, or if it follows all the way up the drivers side under the carpet and up to the fuse box. Has anyone ever had their car torn apart enough to know where this wire goes? Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

That wire continues along the drivers side footrail all the way up into the fusebox. It goes through a large flat connector located usually under the carpet near the rear driver's side passenger seat, but I've seen it in the trunk area also. Under the drivers side carpet the wiring goes through a plastic channel.

Thanks!! A quick question for you. You said that the green wire follows the drinver side up to the fuse box. Does it actually go into the fuse box? Reason why I ask is because I have an elecrtical diagram for the reverse light crcuit, and am a little confused about it now if that is the case. In my diagram it shows a blue wire coming from the TURN SIGNAL/B/U LAMP fuse in the fuse box that runs all the way down to the reverse light connector on the transmission The second wire of that connector is green, and goes all the way back to the reverse lights. I have read a few posts about the reverse light wiring, and have heard that the green wire ends up running through the firewall on the passenger side behind the dash. I am basically trying to rewire the system because I accidentally cut the reverse connector plug off when I did my engine swap.

This may just throw more mud on the situation. When I removed the computer, the only wires that were kept were the reverse wires, which went through the pass side kick panel up into the engine bay.

Perhaps this 86 wiring diagram will help:

The reverse light wiring never goes to the exterior of the car until it gets to the taillight housing. The light is actually controlled by a switch on the shifter. It was wired completely different between my 86 and my 89. I'll go out there and look at it a little later when it warms up some and get you some specifics.

The connector at the transmission controls the TCC lockup, and tells the ECM when the tranny is actually in first. The switch on the shifter is what tells the ECM that the tranny is set to Park/Neutral, and controls the reverse lights. The switch has like a six pin connector IIRC.
