Sensor Debacle..Help!

It all started here,

..after I swapped in a 1988 L98 in 1989
Trans Am 305 car.. that currently runs beautifully.

However, going to run the oil pressure senders I
am confused on which one I should run.

I recently discovered that 1989 cars have the
oil pressure sender down at the oil filter.. while
the 1988 cars have it up on the back of the block
behind the TPI.

Obviously, I cant run the 88 sender, for wires dont
exist for it, correct? Or do I have to run that sender?

Its a silly question, but making sure for precaution.
The gauge reads 60lbs+ all day.. So I need to know
what sender to purchase.

I had the same problem once with a 91 to 88 swap. You just need to block off the section on top of the block behind the intake with a fitting like a copper one from local hardware store, and use the 89 sending unit. The 88 engine should already have a sending unit next to oil filter but has one less term. than the 89 harness plug so remove it,get an 89 sensor, and you should be in business.

Excellent news, I will take care of the ole '88 sender
and block her off with something handy.

As for the lower sender near the filter, I believe that
is also from the 1988 Trans am donor.. I ran most, if
not all of sensors from the donor car.

You said the '88 sensor has one less prong, hence why
it doesnt want to function correctly and reads 60lbs+
at the gauge.. or it was just shot to begin with.

Either way, thanks alot for sharing your expierence

Thanks for the response
