HELP ON REMOVING HEADLIGHT SWITCH

HELP ON REMOVING HEADLIGHT SWITCH
HEY GUYS ON MY 89 CAMARO I GUESS THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH GOT DAMAGE BECAUSE I CANT TURN OFF THE LIGHT AT ALL THEY STAY ON.SO WHATS THE EASIEST WAY TO REMOVE THE SWITCH?

- Remove the drivers side hush panel
- Loosen the two nuts that hold up the steering column all the way to the end of the studs. This will let you lower the column enough to work.
- Remove the gauge cluster trim
- Remove the two 10mm speed nuts in the gauge cluster (found in the warning light sockets)
- Pull the cluster out enough to get your arm behind it and release the speedo cable. Just depress the tab against the back of the cluster and the cable should release.
- Remove the gauge cluster
- Pull the headlight **** out all the way
- Remove the trim around the headlight ****. Careful there are fake screws and real screws. Use a magnet to find the real ones if you can't tell them apart by looking.
- The underside of the headlight switch has a springloaded button on the bottom. Press and hold that in to be able to pull the **** all the way out.
- The switch is held in with a large plastic nut. You'll need a large flathead screwdriver or something flat about a half inch wide. Unscrew the retainer nut from the headlight switch.
- Unplug the connector from the headlight switch
- Wrestle the switch out through a hole not designed to accomodate it
- Famous last words: installation is reverse of removal

so were is this hole not designed for removal?ohh nice write up by the way,why did it go bad though?

Yours? I don't know. Could be just an internal piece broke and it's not actually switching when you push it in. I do know they were cheap enough, and it was nice being able to adjust the dash lights without dead spots in the pot. You know, where as you're turning it up it gets brighter and brighter, then it's out, then brighter.
The hole is going to be through the area where you just removed the gauge cluster. You'll see it once you take it apart.
