Windshield Wipers
Anybody know why my wipers don't work except when they are all the way on? Anybody know if it the motor or a short or anything? I'm pretty clueless...

Yeah, i had that same problem with my 86. I believe your 91 is going to have a slightly different setup than mine.. but what i found was a torn up circuitboard in the wiper transmission unit. You might want to carefully take the cover off and check it to make sure it isn't damaged. Also, mine had some switches on it to let the car "know" where the wippers were at. THat switch might be coroded or damaged... Might be worth a look see If it looks ok, i would suspect the transmission unit and look into a replacement. What happened when your car started doing this? With mine the wipers stopped moving and blew the fuse. After i "unstuck" the wipers and replaced the fuse they began to do the same thing. I repaired the circuit board and managed to get the "stop" feature to work but i havent been able to get the delay wipers to work since then.

Right, except did it happen all of the sudden or did things just slowly stop working E.G. Low and High work, but Delay wont... Then high works with no low or delay.... finally, a few weeks later, high works with no delay, no low speed, and now the wipers wont return when switched off....

Hmm, it still could be any one of the three... assuming the system hasn't experianced any trauma, the transmission and wiring should be ok. I would start out with the switch as the first culprit, if all is ok there, the transmission, i really dont thing it could be the wiring unless it is the wires in close proximity to the multifunction switch/turn signal/curise etc unit. Try tweaking it slightly this way and that to see if you can get any continuity out of it... "change the symptoms" This could help you narrow down where the problem is located... Tap on it, switch it, tweak it, try switching it while in the down position, up position, high-beam switch, etc. Let me know if anything changes while you are doing this. I think an easy test would be to stop your wipers half way up your winshild. Place the switch at the off position. At this point the wipers should return... If while your tapping and tweaking the wipers start to return youll know your on the right track. IF not, move to the wiper transmission unit... Unplug all the electrical connectors and plug them back in- repeat two or three times... see if that makes a difference

If your able to fix it, could you let us know what worked?
Mine is currently doing the same thing.
Usually you have to turn it to high just to get them to move. Sometimes after running for a bit you can turn it down and get luck and it will run at low and even delay. usually when turning it off it will stop right where it is. If you fiddle with it for bit, it will eventually go off. Sometimes after getting it off after about 5 minutes it suddenly will come on for one swipe then go off again.
Hope it's not too expensive to fix.
-Thanks!
