88 iroc guages glitch
on my guages in my IROC when i turn my headlights on the tach, oil press., and volt gauge go limp, and the pass side turn signal light inside comes on,,,,i turn the dash light off with the headlights on and all the gauges work fine,,,, replaced the headlight switch and no fix,,,,any help??? has this happened to you???/

check the big connector under the dash. its bolted to the side of the steering column (passenger side facing) make sure its firmly connected and that its not plugged in over one notch. this comes from first hand experience.

Yeah, it's happened. It turned out to be a broken copper trace line on the 'circuit board' on the back of the cluster. Mine was in one of the ground lines from the cluster illumination lights.
I repaired it by running a jumper wire across the break.

This thread was a lifesaver, just got an 86 T-Top (2.8L) and the gauges were driving me batty, turns out it was a break in the circuit on the back. After replacing the headlight switch and following pretty much every wire possible. Then I found this thread and found the break in no time. I used a slightly different method to bridge the break, just soldered a thin wire out of a network cable to splice the break. Works just as well and nothing to snag.

Lifesaver if it works on mine!!! I have been beating my head against the wall for days! Currently waiting on another gauge set(145 from 85 mph) and will check printed board b4 install.
