Odd problem

Hi, I've been having consistent problems with the voltage in my car for about 8 months. It all first started when my car died due to the stock alternator giving in, I then had the unit reconditioned and now ever since the car has been having this problem where if I drive it for about 15 min and I stop say at a traffic light the volts will drastically drop and so will the idle of the engine (from about 650 to 500). I originally thought it was the alternator once again going but I've had both that and the battery tested at 3 different places and they have all said the same thing, that the alternator and battery is fine. So now I have no idea what’s going on with my car, if any one could give any suggestions as to what it could be I would greatly appreciate it.

Have you tried it with a different battery and have you had the cables and connections checked? Just a thought!!!

Ok, I can try it with another battery no problems with that, but which cables and connections do you suggest I get checked out?

The battery post connections, alternator wire harness connection, battery and fusible link connections at the starter solenoid, Battery ground connection. Check under the battery cable terminal insulation for corrosion.

Whoa ok quite a few things there to check out, do you mean visually check them out? Or do I need to get a voltmeter? Sorry about my ignorance on this subject but I've never had any experience with Camaro electronics.

For the most part a good visual is sufficient enough. Any corrosion found should be cleaned off and tighten any loose connections.

Okay,

You know the battery and alternator, check them and the wires going to them.
P.S. as a note of warning, disconnect the battery first before you start checking any of them. The fourth of july was about three weeks ago. The next items to check are the fusible links down at the starter solenoid. It is located at the rear of the engine on the passenger side underneath the car. The purple wire on the solenoid is not one of the wires to check.
