Wide Band O2 Sensor Circuit

There is a post on the DIY PROM board titled "DIY WB is here" that discusses a wide band oxygen sensor circuit / system that was designed by a group of guys at www.diy-efi.org. If you are interested in building the circuit, there is a group purchase going in for a lot of PC boards that will be closed on 8-24. If you are interested in ordering a PC board, fill out the form at http://208.37.117.207/wb.html and submit it. The cost of a board will be approximately $9 & they will be shipped out around 9-10.

What will a WB O2 sensor do for me? Or anyone? I guess I'm asking what benifit it will give us.

John,

A wide band O2 sensor has the ability to indicate A:F mixture ratio accurately over a wide range (10:1 to 20:1, for example), which is very useful in tuning. The O2 sensors used in our third gen systems are narrow band sensors, which are only accurate near the stoichiometric ratio (14.7:1), and may only be used to determine if the mixture is rich or lean, and where the transition point is.
