ignition/fuel help PLZ (long)
How is the fuel pump and/or it's relay related to the ignition module or ESC module?
Reason I ask is I've been having intermittant fuel starvation problems to the point I don't want to risk driving anywhere. The car dies as if running out of gas while cruising. As a result, I replaced the fuel filter and some Lucas fuel system cleaner (thinking I might have gotten some bad gas or water in the tank) but with no improvement.
Basically, it the RPMs would dip while cruising just like running out of gas. It usually starts right up, but almost immediately dies, or dies after idling for a brief period.
[list][*] I can hear the pump prime and I believe it runs while the car is running. I can hear and feel the fuel pump relay working.[*] If I watch the injectors with the car idling, they're fine for a bit, then stop, where the car dies.[*] I disconnected the fuel pump relay and started the car, and it ran, so I know the oil pressure switch works.[*] I pulled the codes, and got a 23, and a 42, which led me to check what I checked.
After I disconnected the FP relay, I got a 54 (obviously).[*] I disconnected the MSD and ran the stock ignition with the same problems.
Now it gets weird:
I disconnected and inspected the ESC module, and the bypass connector, and no bad wires, etc. so I put them back, reconnected the MSD, and now it won't die anymore. But I don't want to try driving anywhere yet understandably, because basically, I haven't done anything!
Which brings me to the original question: How is the fuel pump and/or it's relay related to the ignition module or ESC module?
What am I missing in my troubleshooting here?

n/m. It still dies. Had the ignition module tested and they said it was good.
How do I hook my fuel pressure tester up to the TBI? It's supposed to mount to the schrader valve on the TPI, but I'd like to use it here...

The only link between the ignition and fuel relay is the ecm itself. By taking an educated guess i'd say 75% pickup coil and 25% fuel pump going or wiring prob (oil press..ect.)
