Can't Get TurnerPro To Read ECM
I'm using TunerPro. I've used it in the past. I have the .ads and .xdf files loaded. I'm using a Moates cable. I have TurnerPro set to COM5 and my cable is plugged into COM5 on my laptop. Yet it keeps saying Hardware not Not Found. I've done this in the past with no problems. Unless my ECM is bad? Could this be a sign of a bad ECM? Or am I just missing a step I forgot about?

Re: Can't Get TurnerPro To Read ECM
I've tried changing both the COM settings on TunerPRo and my laptop. Neither make a difference. I've tried leaving the USB plugged in and changing the COM setting. That didn't work. Then I kept plugging it in at all my USB ports.
For some reason TunerPro only gives me the COM options of 3 and 5.

When I test the cable in TunerPro it says Cable found and functional.

What year car? What ECM part number? Reason I ask is I have a ‘88 GTA 350 that I struggled to get linked then was able to link when switching to 10k but @Tuned Performance let me know not to drive the car in this mode as it sets the timing. I had even bought a refurbished Cardone ECM, still no luck.
Now I tried to call Moates on why it wasn’t staying linked when switching off the 10k and they said on the 165 ECM that it has to be in 10k to link. I question this and did not attempt to drive it with it on (as advised).
I had @Tuned Performance burn me a $6E chip with some tweaks for my car and I have not tried to go back and datalog.

Try using a 160 baud adx file w-10 k resistor first. This might be the best you can do with TunerPro without a lot of experimentation.
Note: It will be a challenge to connect to an 86 bin at 8192 baud, but it is possible. Diacom and DataCat have been reported to work with 86 bins. I've tested DataCat myself, so I would suggest you give it a try as the next step. Unfortunately, not much info on this topic (86-specific). Many users choose to jump to $32B or $6E, which will also work since the 87-88 and 89 bins are easier to connect at 8192 baud due to changes to the serial data initialization.

Re: Can't Get TurnerPro To Read ECM
My 88 always needs a 10k resistor to connect and start showing data. I can turn it off after and it will continue to data log. I know this isn't much help. But I've connected first try many times and data logged. And there have also been times it took 15 tries to get it to start spitting data. When it's being finicky I'll restart the laptop, change com ports...etc And it will eventually start working.

Make sure your USB cable is plugged in BEFORE you start TP. Also, is your laptop running on battery, or some kind of power supply in the car? If so, that could create a ground loop, and problems.....And yes, I use the 10k mode to start connecting, then switch it off as soon as it is logging. But, its not a sure thing, as I have the 165 ECM, and sometimes it takes a few attempts to connect.

Hardware detection, or that "Hardware not found" message is for real time emulation devices, such as the Ostrich or AutoProm. You will NEVER get a "Hardware Found" message for datalogging only (ALDL cable) devices.
Click on the Acquire Data (Two blue arrows) button and go, just make sure your datalogging settings under the data acquisition tab are set correctly.
