solid CEL with ostrich

I just installed my ostrich and now my CEL is solid on and I cant retrieve codes with my paperclip ( i was doing to reset IAC because of high Idle). I think this means im in limp home mode. I am using the g1 adapter on a 165 and I have the red line on the ribbon cord farther out towards the perimeter. i know its probably a noob mistake thanks for your help

Re: solid CEL with ostrich

Have you set the switches on the side of the Ostrich correctly? And loaded a BIN into it?

I am pretty sure I loaded a bin. You just open a bin and xdf and press the up arrow right. I don't know what the switches mean I can't find the info either so do you know or is there a place I should look

Not sure how TP works with the Ostrich. The switch positions are marked on the top label of the Ostrich. Small print with numbers such as 28/32. Set the switches for a 28 pin emulation.

Re: solid CEL with ostrich

Ok I found out my problem. the ostrich was pretty much not plugged in. the question I have now is do I need a zif socket to plug the ribbon cord from the ostrich to my g1 adaptor. I tried doing it directly but it doesnt slide in easy should I apply more force?

I don't care for ZIF sockets in an auto environment. They don't have enough retention and the chip can/will work loose.

More force is required to seat the header. Best to do this with the G1 out of the ECM. That way you can squeeze the set up together. Instead of just pushing on it.
