USB to RS-232 (serial) converters that work

Just dealt with this headache over the past week when I got another laptop that had no serial port. Perhaps we should post model numbers of converters that are confirmed to work w/ ALDL at a given baud rate.

My findings so far is that any converter based on the Prolific PL-2303 chipset probably will not work with ALDL at 8192 baud rate. This seems to be the logic of choice for many converters on the market. Easy way to tell is just go download the driver for a given converter you're looking at buying and see whose chipset it calls out. Most vendors of 2303 based converters don't bother to alter Prolific's reference driver.

I've had good luck with this converter, http://sewelldirect.com/USBtoSerialPlugin.asp .
It's the SW-1314 based on the FTDI chipset and it works great w/ the 165' ECM at 8192 baud and Tunerpro.
