I just wanted to let you know that I accidentally deleted your post when I meant to respond to it. Sorry, been working a lot of late nights.
The link http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl8192/8192hw.htm has contains information on how to build a cable that will work with certain software to monitor your ALDL. If you explore the site, you will find links to various "freeware" that will work on it.
I particularily noticed one link to some source code that is written in Turbo Pascal to work with the 7730. Looked interesting. Might be an alternative for 7730 users that don't feel like purchasing Diacom.
