Hmm... Yeah...

It's like the G3 but for TBI setups. The form factor isn't fantastic in terms of clearance, but it should do the trick. Add an EX remote switch and you can move among 16 programs on a 27SF512. I think that's right, I forget.

So basically, it'll give you switcher capability if you had a 2732A from the factory.

I've got 1, maybe the only 1, lol. It uses a 29c256 so you can store 8 calibrations and flip through them. I replaced the small rotary switch with a fancy cherry electronics push button (2 buttons to cycle up or down between the calibrations).
I never could get it to work with the switch relocated 6-7 inchs, any more and the ecm would freak out.
It was a great product, too bad it got the axe.

Actually, this is a 'new and improved' version. It should address the problem you were having (no pun intended). No local switch though, just remote capability.

AH, is there an exchange program?
Curious, what was the problem I was having with the relocation? Was it the length of one of the wires that was an issue?

Yes, of course there's an exchange program. Just get with me offline, I'll get you hooked up. It'll be a good test case since you had problems before.

Problem was RF interference. A little capacitance on the pins addresses it (pun intended).

Okay, so you can have mulitiple bins on one chip. That is awsome, I want one! To bad I already soldered the adaper straight to my PCM, but i'm just going to find a junk yard 8746.

Re: G2X TBI-Type Switching Adapter...omg what is it?!?!

this is the only thread talking about this unit and its very old. I just picked one up to use on my little Fiero and was curious how you address the different programs on the chip. i have used an adapter on my TPI for years now but never with multiple ability. Any advice?

Parallel Memory works like this: To get information out of them you need to have the correct address lines set. If your working with 8-bit data then something like the 2732 eprom is named 32K (bits) so it can store ~4kb x 8. It's annoying because technically it's actually 32,768 bits (8*2^12) the 8 is data bus size, the 2 is binary, and 12 is the number of address lines that set which byte you want coming out of the memory at the data pins. With that knowledge, and now let's say you have a "modern" 28C64 eeprom (Electronically Erasable PROM) which is a 64K or ~8kb x 8 which is twice the size that you need. What is the difference? Really it's just an extra address line, 13 in total as apposed to the 12 in the older 2732. Now if you switch this extra address line between high and low you can choose which half of the memory you want to be output, hence switching programs. So the only thing left to do is stack the programs using something as simple (and unnecessarily complex) as a "hex editor" like HxD, then program and have the correct hardware to do the switching of the address line(s). That's my quick explanation.
