epromer5 programing error
I'm having problems when programing 2732A chips with an epromer5 programer. THe chip checks erased but when I tried to program it comes up with a
10:33:35 PM> *** Address:0h, Programming BYTE:80h, Read BYTE:FFh
error message, The chips I have are off of ebay, out of 50, 15 checked errased and none of them will program. I don't yet have an eraser yet but that shouldn't matter if the chip is erased should it? Any ideas or pointers would be great.

I had/have the same problem with the Futerlec programmer which is basically a PP1. It programs all other chips I've tried without a hitch, but the 2732's and 2732A's will not program with the windows software. I've tried the supplied software and the PP2 software with the same results. The only way I could get them to program is by using the DOS software. When I contacted Futerlec about it, they said, "Oh, so sorry. We have your money. Bye Bye."
I did some further exploration and I found ONE brand of chip that the windows software would work on. They were Intel D2732A's. I don't know what the deal is with the 2732 series chips, but the only work around I've found for my programmer was to use the old DOS software.

Any one else have any ideas of where to start looking for a problem, It will read, check the chip with no problem, problem begins after it initializes and starts burning. Gonna try to get my chips erased soon so i can make sure thats not it, any one ever have a chip show up erased but not burn?

Ok will try, on the empromer5 there is a programing speed slider bar that is supposed to help if you have a cpu that is basically too fast for the program, I'm using an ancient 150mhz so i dunno, crossing my fingers

I tried slowing down the programing rate, erasing the chips even though they show up blank, and even tried using another chip setting as in 2732b, 2732 ect. No luck with any. The chips are off of ebay, could that be giving it fits? Kinda runnin outta options.

I feel your pain, man.... I'm in the same boat with the PP, but at least I have the DOS option. If I would have only known..... I'd have held out for a PROMinator
The only 2732 series chips I've had Windows software success with were the Intel D2732A's, but the only source I found for those was brand new and they wanted $20 a piece for them.

BMmonteSS:
I have an Epromer 5 (though the board indicates its an Epromer 6?) and have been trying to program my 29C256's for a while with no luck. I get the same error along with "device not supported" when trying to erase. I have tried programming two brand new eeproms and niether took the program.
I emailed USTR and was recommended to check out the link below until they find out what the cause may be. I'll post here if I find a solution. Please do the same if you figure it out.

Hey this is BMmonteSS here can't logout of my brother's screen name for some reason. Any way I got an email back from ustr and a link to some beta software for epromer6 hummm that makes sense since this is a empromer6 board. Gonna try it and see how it works out, also found some really old funky japanese 2732a chips that work. http://www.ustr.net/epromer6/epromer6aa.exe I'm supposed to let him know how it works, as of now he says it's only for the older 2732 UV style chips the flash chips don't work yet
