Dual ECMs

Dual ECMs
Looking for information on hooking up a pair of ECMs in one car/truck.
Want to run a 165 TPI ECM for fuel management and a 93 ECM to operate the 4L80E transmission.

Re: Dual ECMs
Great question. I like it. It has been done before.
Could always run a stand alone trans controller like a compushift (not a fan) and tune the 165 separately.
What are you doing and why? Ecm part is pretty straight forward, but standalone trans controllers can be sketchy.
Here is a blown 4L80E car with too much gear and 165 ecm: https://datazap.me/u/tequilaboy/160-...0-544&mark=322

Re: Dual ECMs
I am putting a 383 into a 93 Chevy G20 Van along with a RV rebuilt 4L80e and a US Gear Dual Range Overdrive.
Target is a high MPG Van that can run in Double Overdrive at 80MPG pulling 1600RPMs, goal is 20+ MPG.
And perhaps some towing in 3rg gear in 4L80e and second Overdrive.
Will be running 87 EMC in lean Burn Cruse when possible.
Problem/plan is to use 93 GM factory ECM to control 4L80e and 165 has no e transmission controls.

Re: Dual ECMs
Fast355 may have input on this
i believe some guys have used the tbi 7427 ecms out of the early 90’s trucks that ran 60e and 80e transmission and added resistors/jumper wires to the ecm to convert them to mpfi instead of tbi
so i think that could be done. The gearhead efi forum may have more info

Re: Dual ECMs
OK I have been shown the light, I can run a 7427 for a 4L80e and convert it for MPFI.
And I can find 16197427s everywhere reasonable BUT no one can tell me anything about the van or truck they came out of.
They cannot tell me what transmission, engine of even if it was even running when hit.
My old friend who had a junk yard would often say when asked if a part was any good, “Well it was moving when it hit something.” He could then show you to car or truck it came out of. Sadly he passed 7 years ago and wife sold yard.
So looks like I will need to load the basic operating system for a 350V8, for a 4L80e and hopefully for lean Burn Cruse.
My read is I can get any 7427 and just reprogram it…Correct??
Can someone tell me how to do this and what tools will be needed??
And are all operating programs on the EPROM or do we need to make changes to the main ECM??
Best of all worlds will be to have a person load these programs to an EPROM or chip as I also have a Moates Memory Adapter With a preloaded MPG custom chip.
Plus the older EPROM chips from my 93 350 4L60e 165 ECM, so how much of engine and transmission programs are in the EPROMs?
Can I just plug them into a 16197427 and just take off??
As this will be a fresh start up of a new engine I hope to have a good ECM to light it up.
Perhaps someone can sell one? A 427 ECM or loaded EPROM or suggest a good tuner/programmer?
