L98 ECU

I have a question for the board In reference the the ECU for an 87 GTA with the L98 in it. I found the above mentioned car in a junkyard recently and of course the motor was gone but when I saw L98 on the service parts identification sticker I immediately looked to see if the ECU was still there and it was. I pulled it out from under the passenger side of the dash to find it only had two connectors versus the ECU in my 91Z (with the L98) that has three. Also, they plugged into the wrong side. It plugged in on the end instead of on the side like mine. Isn't the one I found for a 305 and not a 350? Or since 87 was the first year of the L98, did they do something different?

[QUOTE=budofbama31313;6031539]I have a question for the boar
It's the correct '165 ecu mass air flow sensor they are not compatible with the '730 speed density manifold air pressure (MAP) ecu's.
Forgot to mention '85-88 are the '165 ecm's and '90-92 are the'730's

Yes the only difference between ECU's for the 305 vs 350's is the memcal.

Can't tell you what else the '730's were installed in but lots different GM so for example if you find one in a TBI truck and it has a '730 ECU it also will work same ECU would just need to change the memcal... Or consider if budget allow rbob' EBL system it replaces the Memcal in the '730 and let's you tune without burning chips. Just pit one in my car about double the price of a aftermarket chip but way better and allows you to tune and data log as well as giving you a great scan tool

Re: L98 ECU

If I'm not mistaken, 305 TPI ECUs are identical to 350 TPI ECUs of the same year with the exception of the EPROM programming.
