fuel pump issues

ok I have a 91 Camaro 5.7tpi and last week I had to have the car towed back to the house because the fuel pump wouldn't prime and the battery died as well. got home and managed to get the car to start and run but still no fuel pump prime. what could cause this? I replaced the fuel pump relay and checked all fuses and everything seems to be ok. this car is driving me crazy. how could I check if it is the ecm or pump? could the priming part of the pump be bad but the pump itself be good? I was thinking about just running a jumper wire to the relay and just set prime on toggle switch, I really don't want to have to drop the gas tank again. please help

Re: fuel pump issues

You need to verify the fuel pump works. If you can jump directly to 12V, that would verify it.

I also believe the oil pressure sensor is on the fuel pump circuit. Could also be the oil pressure sensor.

Re: fuel pump issues

My fuel pump worked, but my fuel pressure regulator would not prime. Hard time starting car and ran rich after starting. After shutting off the fuel pressure would drop to zero in seconds. After repairing the pressure regulator the car is fine. Car primes and hold pressure and is not running rich.
