factory tune on hsr 406sbc

Alright i have a 88 irocz 305tpi iam in the process of building a 400sbc 30 over.. so far i have bought the weiand stealth ram kit, afr 195 heads 65cc, xfi 280 retro fit hydraulic roller cam 280 288 duration @50: 230 236 valve lift 576..eagle rotating assembly all forged mahle dish pistons, h beam rods 6 inch and a forged crank... Will it all work with factory tune till I have it dyno or will I need a aftermarket chip

If its a maf, itll run if you use stock or close injs.
It wont run well if u have a SD car.

The maf will help, It will need a lot of tuning to run well though. The maf will cause you headaches in the long run though. It will need a lot more fuel that the stock chip will provide, I wouldn't run it hard until it's tuned. I'd suggest a wideband Air fuel ratio gauge as well. My 355, with afr heads and a XFI280 cam would lean out at idle, running an ARAP bin and 36# injectors. Your extra cubes will compound that problem greatly. No aftermarket chip will work with that combo either, you will probably have to learn to tune it yourself. It is hard to find anyone that is familiar with or willing to burn chips anymore.

So are u saying the stock chip will help? Cause I can get one burned.. And why the gaudge? Do you have one? What's the reason and max air? I just want my car to run right.

U need a ebl system from dynamic efi.com. a wide and O2 sensor and a laptop

Will a coustum chip help and I know a guy with an 89 with the same set up his ran good an he raced it what's the difference in a 88 ,89

Yes, a properly done chip is the right way to go.
88 has the coldstart (9th) inj.

MAF may not handle the grams/second. Or should I say will not handle. SD is what I would go with. Along with port fuel mod EBL.
